Chapter 55: Revelation 12–16 https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/new-testament-student-manual/revelation/chapter-55-revelation-12-16?lang=eng

I love the verse of “How Firm a Foundation”— When through the deep waters I call thee to go, The rivers of sorrow shall not thee o’erflow For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless, And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress. [See Hymns, no. 5] And Elder James E. Talmage wrote: “No pang that is suffered by man or woman upon the earth will be without its compensating effect … if it be met with patience.” On the other hand, these things can crush us with their mighty impact if we yield to weakness, complaining, and criticism. “No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude and humility. All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of God … and it is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire and which will make us more like our Father and Mother in heaven. …” (Orson F. Whitney)
